THINGS TO DO AND SEE WHILE VISITING THE VERDE VALLEY!
So little time... SO much to do
SEDONA: About 15-20 minutes away, and a MUST see for numerous reasons! You will want to visit multiple times if you have the chance! The hiking and red rocks are breathtaking and there are TONS to visit! The hikes vary significantly in difficulty so Google them and pick ones that make sense for your abilities. There are several energy vortexes too if you want to check them out. There are many unbelievable restaurants (we love the Hideaway House, Elote & Mariposa) and some fun shops. Sedona has 3 “sections” Uptown – mostly touristy shopping so great for souvenirs, t-shirts, Pink Jeep tours (always a blast – highly recommend), and TONS of restaurants. West Sedona – more traditional shopping, Whole Foods, great restaurants, and Tlaquepaque (pronounced TA-LOCK-AH-POCKY) an artist “village” built in the 1970’s best known for high end art, jewelry, shops and some great restaurants.
JEROME: A fascinating & funky historic old mining town best known for being a haunted ghost town! Sits HIGH atop of the world at over 5000ft elevation (called the mile-high city)! The drive up the mountain is breathtaking! Fantastic views, shops, wine tasting rooms and restaurants! The Asylum, and Clinkscale are two of our favorites! On your way either to or from Jerome, we recommend stopping in at Chateau Tumbleweed or Bodega Pierce for an amazing wine tasting right on 89A
OLD TOWN COTTONWOOD: Quaint walking town with fantastic restaurants, shops and tons of wine tasting rooms! Our favorite places to go are Bocce, Merkin Osteria, Pillsbury,
Red Rooster and a local spot Thai Palace!
Alcantara Vineyards & Winery – located off of 260 heading to Camp Verde, sip wine, have a pizza and enjoy the peaceful surroundings, which include sprawling vineyards, several grassy picnic areas and the confluence of Oak Creek and the Verde River.
HISTORIC CLARKDALE: Tiny little historic town, best breakfast treasure is Violet’s a train caboose serving authentic FRESH French pastries, breakfast and lunch al fresco! A fun adventure is to take the Verde Canyon Railroad train – upgrading to 1st class ticket is WELL worth it! The Copper Museum is fascinating, and the new
Smelter City Brewing is worth a visit if you are a fan of beer!
PAGE SPRINGS: Gorgeous wine country with lots of options for wineries. Our favorites are DA (Dancing Apache) Ranch and Javelina Leap!
Up the Creek is a cute little restaurant overlooking Oak Creek.
GRAND CANYON & PAGE – If you are up for a full day trip visit the Grand Canyon (about 2 hours away) or head to Page to visit the clear glacier water of Lake Powell,
Horseshoe Bend, and Antelope Canyon!
